What is Rimadyl Caplets?

Rimadyl (carprofen) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the propionic acid class that includes ibuprofen, naproxen, and ketoprofen. Rimadyl is indicated for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and for the control of postoperative pain associated with soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries in dogs.

How is Rimadyl Caplets sold?

Rimadyl Caplets contain 25 mg, 75 mg, or 100 mg of carprofen per Caplet. Each Caplet size is packaged in bottles containing 30, 60, or 180 tablets. Rimadyl is sold by prescription only.

What are the side effects of Rimadyl Caplets?

Pet parents should be aware of the following adverse responses indicative of sensitivity or rejection of the drug:

  • decreased appetite
  • vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • dark or tar-like stools
  • increased water consumption
  • increased urination
  • pale gums due to anemia
  • yellowing of gums, skin, or whites of the eyes due to jaundice
  • lethargy
  • incoordination
  • seizure
  • behavioral changes

Notes* Adverse responses may occur suddenly. Contact your veterinarian at once if your pet shows any signs/symptoms of those listed above. Most pets who have suffered negative reactions have recuperated with the help of veterinarian care and immediately stopping drug intake. Follow up visits are recommended while taking an NSAID.

What special precautions are there?

Not for administration in cats. Do not use in dogs displaying carprofen hypersensitivity.

Store in a dry and cool environment. 59°-86°F (15°-30°C).
