Flunixin meglumine is a powerful non-steroidal, non-narcotic analgesic with antipyretic and anti-inflammatory benefits. It was far more powerful than codeine, meperidine, and pentazocine as analgesics in a test of rat yeast paws. Oral horse studies have proven that the onset of flunixin action occurs in 2 hours or less after administration. The peak response will occur from 12 to 16 hours, and the activity duration is between 24 and 36 hours.
